Soobeen Woo is a media artist based in Bremen, Germany, whose work explores the tension between disappearance, material transformation, and the limits of perception. Her practice is centered on the notion that absence can be just as tangible as presence, questioning how things dissolve, fragment, and leave traces that redefine our understanding of existence.

Through installations, virtual environments, and interactive experiences, she examines how physical and digital realities converge and disintegrate, emphasizing the ephemeral nature of objects, spaces, and even air itself. Her work challenges anthropocentric perspectives by shedding light on what often remains unseen—whether it be vanishing ecosystems, dissipating breath, or the remnants of lost data.

Integrating cutting-edge tools such as AI, VR, and data visualization with tactile and sensory elements, she constructs speculative scenarios where disappearance is not merely an end, but an active process of transformation. Her projects investigate the ways in which time, vibration, and sound erode structures, both physically and conceptually, prompting audiences to experience absence as something felt, rather than simply observed.

By engaging with themes of erasure, memory, and the fragile boundary between presence and loss, her work encourages a reconsideration of what it means for something—or someone—to truly disappear.
